The JDR Motorex KTM team today had their first taste of Parramatta Stadium in preparation for this weekend’s Sydney round of the 2010 Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship.

Super X Lites class points leader PJ Larsen was joined by fellow JDR Motorex KTM teammates Ryan Marmont and Mike Alessi at the stadium as the team met with the Parramatta Eels National Rugby League team at what is the team’s home ground.

Saturday night’s sixth and penultimate round of the season will mark a homecoming of sorts for the Sydney-based JDR Motorex KTM team, and a supportive hometown crowd is expected for the weekend.

For Wollongong’s Ryan Marmont, this weekend will also see plenty of his hometown fans make the trip to Parramatta, and he was excited to check out the course and meet with the Eels today.

“It’s always good to meet with athletes from other sports and I’m a big fan of the NRL,” 25-year-old Marmont commented. “Hopefully we can come out strong this weekend for the JDR Motorex KTM team’s home round.

“Maybe even a few of the Eels players will come back on Saturday night to check out the racing.”

Marmont comes into the Lites round third in the standings as 20-year-old American teammate Larsen leads, the pair looking to repeat their form of late that saw them capture a 1-2 finish in Auckland a fortnight ago.

JDR Motorex KTM’s Open class campaign will be lead by 18-year-old Tye Simmonds, who currently sits fourth in the series aboard the 2011 model KTM 350 SX-F.

Simmonds finished on the podium last weekend in Dunedin and intends to continue his form to round out the season in a bid to take a top three result overall.

American Open class teammate Mike Alessi will make his final appearance in Australia before returning to the U.S. in preparation for January’s AMA season opener in California, the 22-year-old looking for a solid last showing before he returns home on Monday.

“I need to get back there to start testing for the AMA Supercross season, but I’ve had a great time here in Australia,” Alessi explained. “Everybody’s been really nice to us here and the tracks have been good, although obviously I wish I had better results.

“I’d definitely like to come back next year and put on a good show.”
