CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha’s Jay Marmont says he’s determined to return to the podium at tonight’s Sydney round of the Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, after a tough round in Dunedin one week ago.

Marmont sits in second place overall in the premier Open category despite a disappointing round in the New Zealand mud where he finished fourth, and he’s sure to showcase his fighting spirit tonight at the penultimate round.

“I wasn’t happy with myself after Dunedin,” the Wollongong local admitted. “The conditions were tough but I pride myself on being tough and I didn’t step up.

“This week is about making amends and putting in the kind of laps and races that I have built my career on.”

Joining Marmont on the CDR Rockstar Yamaha team will again be Jeff Alessi from the USA. Alessi has shown flashes of brilliance but is yet to put all the pieces together in one night. With only two rounds left, Alessi realizes the time to impress is fast running out.

Sydney’s sixth round of the 2010 series will take place at Parramatta Stadium tonight.
