CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha team owner Craig Dack says that he believes the victory was there for the taking for lead rider Jay Marmont at Sydney’s round of Super X on Saturday night.

Marmont finished third overall after crashing in the fourth of the Quad Challenge finals, missing his chance to strike and finishing third overall for the round.

“I honestly thought Jay should have won tonight,” Dack said. “He and I both knew it was there for the taking. We had a long talk about it after the racing finished and discussed what needs to happen next time that situation arises.

“The beauty of a rider like Jay is he absorbs it, learns from it and it will put into action quickly and efficiently. I expect Jay to be fired up for a big finish at the final round in Brisbane next week.”

Marmont was disappointed in the end result, however a podium finish and comfortable second in the standings is still positive for the triple MX Nationals Champion.

“I should have won tonight, as simple as that,” Marmont commented. “The fall in the sand cost me, but I also wasn’t aggressive enough to make passes into the lead in races two and four.

“It was there to be won and I didn’t follow through. Crashing is part of racing but at a professional level a simple fall like that shouldn’t happen and I needed to show no mercy when passing.

“I was too nice. That won’t be the case next time!”

Marmont will have one last shot at winning this weekend at Brisbane’s season finale on Saturday night.
