Oz SX: Top five an improvement for Reardon at Parramatta

Honda's Dan Reardon bounced back into the top five at Parramatta.

Honda's Dan Reardon bounced back into the top five at Parramatta.

After a challenging few weeks Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racing’s Dan Reardon has bounced back with a top five result at the penultimate round of the Monster Energy Super X Series at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday night.

Reardon won his heat race and despite still carrying a rib injury, raced four solid races in the Quad Challenge final.

The Queensland-based rider finished the four six-lap races seventh, third, fourth and fourth to claim fifth overall for the night.

Also marking an improvement on the night was a heat race victory.

“I rode as hard as I could tonight with my ribs but they are still quite sore,” Reardon admitted. “It was a definite improvement on last weekend but still not quite where I want to be.

“Next weekend is the final round of the series and it is a home event for me so I will be looking for that elusive win and hope the home town support will help to get me on that podium.”

Reardon now sits fifth in the standings, within striking distance of fourth place Tye Simmonds.

Teammate Todd Waters crashed heavily in the first leg of the Quad Challenge final and was taken to hospital for precautionary monitoring.

In the Lites final Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racing’s Kade Mosig finished ninth after a mistake in the third leg of the unforgiving Survival format saw him miss the final five-lap race.

“I felt pretty good today,” Mosig said. “It was definitely a better result than the last couple of weeks. I made a mistake on the second lap and these cut throat survival races make it hard to recover.

“This was a definite turning point and my focus now is on a top five result at the final round of the series next weekend.”

The final round of the 2010 Monster Energy Super X series will be held at QSAC stadium in Brisbane this Saturday night.
