Josh Brookes earned valuable points at round three of the British Superbikes

After an opening two rounds of racing that he would rather forget, Australia’s Josh Brookes has come away from the third round of the British Superbike Championship at Croft with eighth and fourth places.

In doing so, he has put himself in within striking distance of the Shootout Top Six, which was the goal of both himself and the Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing team coming into the weekend.

In a first race which proved to be a tyre choice lottery due to the changing weather conditions, Brookes was able to get inside the top ten with an eighth place finish.

“Race one was hindered with the rain but I did the best I could with the Intermediate/ Slick tyre-combination that we chose, but I wasn’t confident to push any harder in the conditions. We did have a bit of a power loss but I don’t think that made any difference,” commented Brookes.

Race two proved better again, as Brookes moved from the third row of the grid to narrowly miss a podium finish.

“In race two I made a little mistake and lost a few places, but I felt very confident on the bike and got back up to fourth,” said Brookes.

“I sat close to John Hopkins just in case he made a mistake, but I was happy to run it home in fourth rather than make a mistake; and in the end we picked up some good points.”

Brookes and his team will look to build on these positive results as the British Superbike Championship moves to round four at Thruxton.

“Next up is Thruxton which is my favourite track. I had my first BSB podium and win there so I’m looking forward to that.”
