
Blake Young edged out Josh Hayes for the AMA Superbike win at Miller on Monday.
Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Blake Young won a thrilling AMA Superbike Championship race on Monday afternoon at Miller Motorsport Park in the United States.
Contested over 16 laps, Young was involved in a three-way battle for the lead with defending champion Josh Hayes (Monster Energy Graves Motorsport Yamaha) and teammate Tommy Hayden.
Young eventually stretched his lead to 0.756 seconds for the finish from Hayes, with Hayden just a further 0.059 behind in third.
Hayden’s younger brother Roger, who ride’s for Michael Jordan’s National Guard Suzuki team, finished a fine fourth, while BMW-mounted Steve Rapp was completed the top five.
ADR/Fly Racing Suzuki’s David Anthony was top Australian in ninth, while Trent Gibson was 13th for the round.
Countrymen Chris Trounson and Jordan Burgess both crashed out in the early proceedings of the race.
Yesterday, Hayes’ teammate Josh Herrin won a tight Daytona Sportbike battle ahead of young guns PJ Jacobsen and Cameron Beaubier.
