Corser: We need to analyse Miller results in more detail

Tyre issues and a crash spelt frustration for Corser at Miller.

Tyre issues and a crash spelt frustration for Corser at Miller.

Round five of the World Superbike Championship at Miller Motorsports Park, Salt Lake City, proved to be a frustrating day for Australian, with tyre wear issues causing major problems for the Australian.

“We are disappointed with the way the weekend has ended,” said Corser.

Corser lead out early in race one, holding his position for the first five laps before he started losing traction in the rear, quickly fading back through the pack to a disappointing thirteenth.

“I felt like we had a good set-up for both the wet and dry conditions, and I was really confident going into today’s races. In race one I got away well and led the early laps. The bike felt good for the first five to six laps. Then the grip from the rear tyre became a real issue.”

Race two then saw a crash on lap three, ending his day prematurely.

“In race two I decided to take it a bit easier in the early laps to save the tyres, but I began to lose too many positions,” Corser commented.

“So I then started to push and clipped the kerb with my engine casing and lost the front – crashing out of the race. On the whole it was a difficult weekend and one we need to analyse in more detail.”

Corser and the team now have a weekend off before round six of the series at Misano on June 12.
