Herfoss and Jones claim Nurburgring IDM Superbike podiums

Australians stand out during strong weekend in German-based Superbike series.

Australians Troy Herfoss and Gareth Jones starred during the Nurburgring round of the IDM Superbike Championship in Germany on Sunday.

Herfoss rode his RAC Racing BMW S 1000 RR to second in race two, just 0.414sec in arrears of dual race winner Michael Ranseder.

Earlier, during race one, Herfoss was forced to settle for 11th after he suffered a snapped gear shifter in the closing laps.

Jones was also a podium finisher at the Nurburgring, claiming second in the opening race and third in the second for Wilbers BMW Racing.

Former IDM champion and ex-World Supersport Champion Karl Muggeridge concluded his weekend with 6-7 results for Honda Holzhauer.

Ranseder now leads the series on 106 points after three of eight rounds, while Jones is fourth on 91, Herfoss sixth on 67 and Muggeridge seventh on 63.
