Johnson second in Silverstone 200 on MotoGP weekend

South Australian David Johnson claims Superstock honours at the British Grand Prix.

Aussie David Johnson chases British star Shane Byrne in the Silverstone 200.

South Australian David Johnson finished second in the non-championship Silverstone 200 at the British Grand Prix over the weekend.

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne claimed the inaugural Silverstone 200 after securing both race victories during the weekend.

“First of all Happy Fathers Day! It has been a good weekend and we have been able to get some valuable testing in before we come back here for the Showdown,” Byrne said. “Two wins is a bonus and it sets us up well for Knockhill now.”

After claiming fifth over on Saturday and second on Sunday, Johnson concluded the weekend second overall as top Superstock runner for the Carbontek Racing BMW team.

Johnson will now turn his attention back to the Superstock 1000 category of the British Superbike Championship, in which he currently sits seventh.
