Procon Maxima BMW Racing’s Glenn Allerton has revealed that he will contest the Laguna Seca round of the American Superbike Championship next month.

The current QBE Australian Superbike Champion will head to California for the world famous event, which will take place during the MotoGP weekend on 27-29 July.

Allerton will benefit from the support of his regular ASBK crew and will take his own suspension for the S 1000 RR that he’ll campaign, but he remains uncertain how he’ll perform come the race weekend.

“I’m under no illusions that it’s going to be easy,” he said. “I’m relishing the challenge though and having my team from Australia, along with my own suspension, with me will help to be competitive.”

As a long time road racing fan, Allerton remembers watching grand prix racing at the circuit during the 1990s. To race there all these years later is a dream come true for him.

“When I was a kid I can remember watching riders like Mick Doohan and Kevin Schwantz going down the Corkscrew, so it’s a dream to race there and I can’t wait to get on track,” he added. “Hopefully I can battle with the top guys from the AMA.”

Last year during his championship season, Allerton contested a number of British Superbike rounds, but this will mark his competitive debut in the US.

The Laguna Seca round will take place on the same weekend that Allerton’s ASBK rivals Josh Waters, Jamie Stauffer and Wayne Maxwell will be contesting the Suzuka 8 Hours in Japan.
