Hepburn Motorsports announces Pirelli tyre deal for 2013 ASBK

Dual Australian Superbike Champion Glenn Allerton confirmed for Italian tyre brand.

Glenn Allerton has so far proven a success with Pirellis aboard the BMW S 1000 RR.

Hepburn Motorsports has officially announced its new partnership with Pirelli for the 2013 Australian Superbike Championship season.

Hepburn Motorsports and Pirelli have been testing over the past couple of months with positive results.

The team competed in the FX-Superbike series’ final two rounds, with Glenn Allerton scoring 10 wins from 10 stars in the Formula Oz category aboard his Pirelli-equipped BMW S 1000 RR.

“It was such a good feeling to know that the hard work our team has been putting in has been noticed,” Hepburn said. “To be approached and considered for a partnership to compete on Pirelli tyres in the 2013 ASBK championship was a huge compliment.

“We have tested on the current spec range and have been blown away by the performance and durability that these tyres have to offer.

“Pirelli’s depth of knowledge regarding their product will be a huge advantage in the various conditions enabling Hepburn Motorsports to experience vastly improved results.

“It is refreshing to be partnered with such a professional organisation that is honestly interested in the future of road racing in Australia.

“Hepburn Motorsport is proud to be associated with Pirelli and would be happy to share our findings with anyone who is considering riding with the Pirelli tyre in 2013.

“Feel free to contact us through our website with any questions as we will be more then happy to assist with your enquiries.”

Crew chief Shane Kinderis is also excited to work with the race-proven Italian manufacturer.

“We at Dynotech BMW are really excited to be using Pirelli tyres for the 2013 ASBK series,” he said. “In our brief trial of the current selection of tyres we have been literally blown away with their performance and durability.

“The prospect of the new generation 17-inch WSBK tyres will no doubt push the limits of many lap records around the country. Couple these tyres with the latest generation BMW HP4 and we will have a combination of performance and technology yet to be seen in our domestic series.

“I’m glad that Pirelli and Link International have chosen Hepburn Motorsports to spearhead their development and I look forward to working with such a professional organisation.”

Don Nicholas, national manager of Pirelli Moto at Link International, explained the brand’s move into the ASBK.

“Link International and Pirelli Motorcycle tyres are very pleased to partner with the Dynotech BMW Team in the ASBK in 2013,” Nicholas said.

“Wayne Hepburn’s Dynotech BMW Team is a passionate, privately run team, who have gelled well with Pirelli in initial testing of the current Diablo Superbike range and shown some very encouraging results to date.

“Pirelli has chosen Australia and the ASBK championship for the domestic championship debut of the new 2013 Diablo Superbike range, and with the FIM World Superbike Championships move to 17-inch tyres from 2013 onwards, we look forward to this ongoing development benefiting riders who choose to race on Pirelli tyres in Australia.

“We welcome lead rider Glenn Allerton back to the Pirelli racing family and look forward to working closely with the Dynotech BMW Team as they strive for success in the QBE 2013 Australian Superbike Championships on Pirelli Diablo Superbike tyres.”
