Australian Bryan Staring finished day two of the Jerez MotoGP test in 21st position aboard the Team GO&FUN Honda Gresini, a promising performance on debut at the iconic Spanish circuit.

Staring gradually got to grips with the Jerez layout as he again showed the potential to run with the very best in the CRT category.

The rookie completed 39 laps with a best of 1:42.107, just 2.5 seconds off the pace of leading prototype Valentino Rossi.

“I am really happy because we have been able to make a lot of progress compared to yesterday and, with the help of the team, set some fast and consistent lap times,” Staring said.

“I have to say that I really love Jerez, I reckon it is one of the nicest tracks in the world and that has given me another push.

“Now we need to confirm our pace tomorrow and try to show everybody and myself what my true potential is.”

Testing will resume on Monday, the final test ahead of Qatar’s season opener on 5-7 April.
