Gold Coast teenager Samuel Rankin returns to H43 Team Nobby Talasur for Moto2 Spanish Championship in 2013.

Coming out of the premier season of Moto3 in the prestigious CEV Buckler Spanish Championship, Australian racer Rankin will step up to the Moto2 class.

He will continue his ties with team, H43 Team Nobby Talasur, amalgamating renowned team managers, two-time CEV Champion, Manuel Hernandez Nicolas, and former two-time 125cc Grand Prix runner-up, Nobby Ueda.

Rankin decided to jump to the Moto2 category following a learning season in the Moto3 championship.

“I’ve outgrown the Moto3 bike,” he said. “After getting a small taste of the larger 600cc and 1000cc bikes, it was a natural transition for me.”

Rankin has been working on modifying and improving his physical training program approaching the Moto2 Spanish Championship.

Apart from improving the physical aspect of his training, Rankin has also been working on developing concentration endurance for the extensive races, making it the primary objective for this season.

With nine rounds making up the championship, the first round begins on 28 April at the well-known Cataluña circuit.

Team H43 Nobby Talasur has elected to change their moto2 manufacturer from the Italian GDP Tecstra to the Spanish AJR chassis for the coming season. Rankin will receive support from the factory, working alongside Spanish team mates Russel Gomez and Luismi Miguel Mora.

“I’m confident given the direct help from the AJR factory we can produce good results each round for the year,” he said.

Prior to the official test in Cataluña on 10 April, Samuel will be participating in multiple testing days at the local Cartagena circuit to acclimatise to the new AJR machine.
