Next Gen Motorsports BMW rider Glenn Allerton has clean swept the Symmons Plains ASBK event with a win in the second and final race of the weekend today.

In front of a packed crowd, the two-time Champion put together a faultless race, taking the lead early and crossing the line a comfortable 2.822s clear of Team Suzuki’s Wayne Maxwell.

The combination of the BMW HP4 and the Pirelli tyre proved tough to top, and Allerton will leave the weekend in high spirits with a maximum of 51 points to his name.

“I am really happy with today’s race, it couldn’t have gone much better other than getting the holeshot,” Allerton said.

“I was behind Robbie off the start but once I got past him I laid down some good laps and got away early.

“This is what we have all been working for. Hopefully we can keep it together and keep building on today’s result,” he added.

Positions two and three were debated by factory Suzuki pilots Maxwell and Robbie Bugden for some time before the former committed to a brave braking move into the hairpin on lap eight.

Maxwell eventually broke clear of the battle, with Bugden falling back into the clutches of Team Honda’s Jamie Stauffer.

“I got a bit of an average start in Race 2 and both Robbie and Glenn got away,” Maxwell explained. “Then it took me a few laps to set up a pass on Robbie.

“Suzuki provided me with an awesome bike we just didn’t quite have it. We will go back to the drawing board and see if we can get the GSX R onto the top step at the next round.”

Stauffer came within a whisker of a podium finish but had to settle with fourth as Bugden recorded back-to-back race podiums to finish the weekend just four points clear of his teammate.

Josh Hook bounced back from a disastrous start to his rookie campaign yesterday with a commendable fifth place ahead of Linden Magee, with Beau Beaton a solid seventh after factoring in the top five for some laps.

Glenn Scott, Ben Nicolson and Ben Henry rounded out the top 10 finishers at the conclusion of the 16-lap stoush.

The hard luck story of the race was again Chas Hern, who suffered a major mechanical problem prior to the start and was forced to push his bike off the grid.

Hern, who was so impressive at Phillip Island, will look to bounce back next round after not scoring a single point at Symmons Plains.

Riders will now have over two months to wait until the next round of the championship at Queensland Raceway, a standalone round featuring a full complement of feature and support classes.
