Consistent race performances and a solid haul of points see Glenn Scott and Team InsureMyRide Racing leave Tasmania’s Symmons Plains on a positive note with sixth place overall and the second-placed privateer.

The 21-year-old rookie acquitted himself well against experienced opposition, making progress after each on-track session.

Scott scored a provisional qualifying place of 10th on the opening day before backing up with a solid 11th place in the high-pressure Superpole.

“To make Superpole was a huge effort for myself and the team, the track was only eight degrees which made things exciting but difficult,” said Scott.

Managing the red flag restart well, Scott climbed as high as fifth in the opening 16-lap race, before settling into a solid seventh at the wave of the chequered flag.

“The opening race was really exciting, it felt awesome to line up on the Superbike grid against the likes of [Wayne] Maxwell, [Glenn] Allerton and [Jamie] Stauffer,” he continued.

“After the race was restarted, I got a great jump from the line and rode a really consistent race; we set our fastest lap time around the Symmons Plains track and sat consistently in the low 55s.”

Scott’s team sought to make changes overnight and verified these in the morning warm-up. The rookie set himself the task of changing certain lines in search of edge grip in order to be better prepared for the afternoon race.

“It was a difficult race but again really enjoyable,” said Scott, who finished eighth. “Unfortunately I took a few laps to find my feet in the race which made me lost touch with the top six but once I was comfortable the bike handled really well.”

The InsureMyRide Racing pilot is upbeat as he looks towards the next round of the ASBK.

“We just need more time to learn the bike. I’m really happy with our results for our first Australian Superbike points race, it’s incredible to get such a good result in the privateers rankings,” he continued.

“We’ve found a great base to build from and I can’t wait to get back on the Team InsureMyRide Racing Honda in Queensland.”
