A host of new MotoGP testing restrictions have been announced following a meeting of the Grand Prix Commission in Losail late last week.

Effective from the conclusion of the 2013 season, officially 11 November, the regulations stipulate only one three-day test will be held at a European circuit in the period between the final event and 30 November.

Following this, pre-season testing will be permitted across three, three-day sessions between 1 February and the opening event of the season.

A maximum of three one-day tests will be conducted on the Monday immediately following European events, with the locations to be advised by Dorna/IRTA.

A blanket testing ban will apply from 1 December  to 31 January, similar to previous years.

The regulation update adds that test riders, as opposed to official contracted riders, will be able to continue to test for development purposes at any time using the test tyre allocation available to each team. This will also apply to contracted CRT riders, subject to approval.

Updates were also applied to testing regulations for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes, with the same blanket ban for the months of December and January being applied as per MotoGP rules.

Teams will be allowed three pre-season official tests with contracted riders within Europe, in addition to being able to designate one grand prix circuit and one non-grand prix circuit where they may test at any time from 1 February, 2014 onwards with any rider, but not within 14 days of an event.

When test days on Mondays or Tuesday after European events are not required for MotoGP class testing, teams may participate at the stipulation of race directors.
