Nicholas Waters has raced to a top ten finish in his debut Asia Dream Cup outing at the Sepang International Circuit.

It marked a solid outing for Waters, who was racing the Honda CBR250R for the first time, while also contesting his first race at the complex Sepang circuit.

Competing against riders from across the Asia Pacific, Waters admitted the weekend was a steep learning curve.

“I was thrown in the deep end over the weekend but I know it will only get easier from here,” explained Waters. “I’ve already learned a lot about the motorcycle and how to race it and am looking forward to the next round.”

Starting from the lower end of the grid for race one, Waters made some ground but found himself caught in traffic, eventually finishing 15th.

He found his footing in race two, managing tough weather conditions to move forward to sixth place and an overall position of tenth.

“I know I need to improve my corner speed and tuck myself in as close to the CBR250R as possible, I am going to borrow a CBR250R so I can do some practice at some Australia tracks before the next event,” he added.

Round two of the Asia Dream Cup will be held on 17-19 May at the Sentul International Circuit, Indonesia.
