HRC executive vice president Shuhei Nakamoto doesn’t expect former dual MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner to return to the top level of world motorcycling anytime soon.
The Repsol Honda boss remains in touch with the Aussie according to an interview on MotoGP.com, however he’s certain that Stoner is enjoying the challenge of V8 Supercars competition.
“Yes, I have talked and exchanged emails with Casey, but we basically just talked about his V8 Supercar races in Australia,” Nakamoto commented.
“He is enjoying them and I think he’ll be there for a while.”
After a successful two-year stint with Repsol Honda that included the 2011 world title victory, Stoner switched to the Aussie-based Dunlop Series with the Red Bull Racing Australia V8 Supercar squad.
Previously, Nakamoto has said that he’d welcome Stoner back to the Honda fold should he ever embark on a two-wheel return.
Stoner himself also commented recently that he’s “not interested” in a MotoGP return at this point (click here for report).
