Marc VDS team manager and personal manager to Scott Redding, Michael Bartholemy, believes the Brit can be similarly successful to Marc Marquez when he makes the eventual step to MotoGP.

Redding skated to his first Moto2 win at Le Mans a fortnight ago, extending his advantage in the class points race at the same time.

According to an interview with BBC Sport, Bartholemy believes Redding merits a place in MotoGP, but will only make the move if the right ride is available.

“It is a little bit early [to talk about MotoGP] but I think the future is people like him,” said Bartholemy.

“When you see the riding style of Scott and the riding style of Marc Marquez, it’s very, very similar. I think there should be a lot of advantage for a factory to put Scott Redding on a factory bike.”

Redding’s larger build makes him a better and more natural fit for the larger MotoGP machines, and he has already tested a Ducati factory mount.

“Everybody wants to go as soon as possible but last year when it didn’t happen with Ducati everybody was saying he has to go to MotoGP,” added Bartholemy.

Bartholemy indicated that a Marc VDS entry in MotoGP was still an option being tabled, and one the team would consider if Redding did not secure a factory seat.

“The priority is a good bike in MotoGP with a factory or near-factory bike,” he said. “And after this if nothing is coming then we need to see ourselves what we can put [on the table].”

2013 marks the Briton’s fourth full season in Moto2. He has achieved nine podium finishes from 55 starts.
