Australia’s dual MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner was yesterday included on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, named a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

Stoner was recognised for his “significant service to motorcycle racing” and joined Tour de France winner Cadel Evans, among others, as the list.

The 27-year-old, who was also named Young Australian of the Year in 2008, retired form world motorcycling at the conclusion of last year, with the 2007 and 2011 world titles to his credit.

Stoner has now launched a career on four wheels as part of the Red Bull Racing Australia team in the Dunlop Development Series.
