Fan Guide: 2013 ASBK Rd3 Queensland Raceway

The title fight resumes in the Sunshine State.

The break between rounds has only served to heighten the anticipation ahead of this weekend’s event at Queensland Raceway. Unlike the first point-scoring outing, riders and teams have made the most of many ample opportunities to test at the 3.12 kilometre circuit and should have a solid baseline for their bike settings when practice gets underway.

The tests wrote a basic form guide for the event, with points leader Glenn Allerton topping both of the sessions he competed in. He isn’t unstoppable, however, and rival riders have been working their hardest to prevent a repeat performance from Symmons Plains where he ran away with the races and collected maximum points.

The factory Suzuki and Honda teams will be strong, and should offer the most opposition. Wayne Maxwell and Robbie Bugden are a potent combination – the proven, multiple race winner and the ever-reliable podium contender are on form and will be fast. The potential is there for Team Honda too, though an injury cloud still hangs over Jamie Stauffer after a crash in testing.

A raft of capable and quick privateers are quickly closing the gap to the top five, with Glenn Scott, Chas Hern, Ben Henry and Linden Magee just a handful of a solid field who will be eager to capitalise.

This round also marks the return of the Supersport and individual Prostock class, as well as the first standalone rounds of the series for the Moto3/125GP and 250 Production categories.
