Australia’s Damian Cudlin has been ruled out of this weekend’s Suzuka 8 Hour event after a heavy crash in the second free practice session saw him sustain a broken left tibia.

Cudlin, who was spearheading the charge of BMW Motorrad France Team Thevent, crashed following a brake hose failure on his BMW S 1000 RR going into turn one.

The Aussie sustained heavy bruising to his face in the impact, the extent of which was revealed in photos posted to his social media accounts.

“Crashed hard after a brake hose failure into turn one,” wrote Cudlin. “No fault of my team. Just can’t believe this has happened.

“Don’t know what I have to do for some luck to swing my way… Won’t be modelling anytime soon either.”

The BMW Motorrad France Team Thevent registered the second-fastest time in free practice, with their 2m08.833 effort making them only one of three teams inside the 2m09s barrier.

Cudlin’s withdrawal leaves a lineup of six Aussies in the 2013 running of the Suzuka 8 Hour.
