The hard-working Racers Edge Performance Suzuki privateer outfit is looking forward to improved results for the remainder of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) season after solid strides were made in bike setup at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Beau Beaton rode eighth and ninth place finishes for round four, and improved to take two eighth place finishes for round five.

The consistent finishes boost Beaton to equal eighth place on the points ladder, and a clear third in the privateer ranks.

Team manager Greg Maher said it had been a breakthrough weekend in terms of setting up the Pirelli-shod GSX-R1000, with expert assistance from within the paddock proving invaluable.

Team Suzuki manager and renowned Suzuki tuner Phil Tainton and suspension specialist Steve Mudford were those that lent a helping hand.

“There were so many good things to add to the round five podium from the weekend,” said Maher. “The biggest step through though was in the setup that we arrived at with the help of Phil Tainton and Steve Mudford.

“What Steve has done is take it all to the next level; we can see the changes and put a number to it that has really helped fine tune the setup.

“This coupled with the assistance provided by Phil Tainton via his Suzuki MotoGP setup program took us in a completely different direction to the one we had been heading in prior to this round.”

Maher said felt the new-found direction would translate to top results at the season’s final rounds at Hidden Valley and the Northern Territory.

“When all we have to do after a weekend is wash champagne off Beau’s leathers you know it’s been a good one!” he added. “I’m now going to wash and polish the bikes, change the gearing and head to Darwin full of confidence.”

ASBK action resumes in the Northern Territory from 12-15 September.
