Australian Jed Metcher will enter next weekend’s German round of the World Supersport Championship at the Nürburgring.

The German Team Suzuki Mayer will field Metcher with a wildcard at the Nürburgring. Normally this squad takes part in the International German Championship (IDM) with a GSX-R600. Australian rider Metcher already took a race victory in this season so far and holds on sixth overall.

“We requested a wildcard several weeks ago, but we just wanted to make it public when we got the confirmation by the Dorna,” team manager Werner Mayer commented.

Metcher is no stranger in the WSBK paddock. In 2011 he earned the Superstock 600 European Championship title, collecting seven podiums on his way. In 2012 he faced his first WSS season with a best result of seventh at Misano.

“At this moment the WSS wild card is a really exciting experience for Team Suzuki Mayer”, Metcher told WorldSBK.com. “The development of the bike has been a moral booster for myself and the team.

“We will be looking for a top 10 finis,h but with my experience in the class it will be a tough job as the engine performance is an unknown factor.”
