Aprilia Racing’s Chris Seaton won today’s FX-Nationals event at Queensland Raceway ahead of Sunday’s official Australian FX-Superbike Championship round.

Seaton claimed a surprise overall with 2-1-2 finishes, heading Yamaha Racing with Yamalube’s Broc Parkes and Kawasaki privateer Matt Walters.

Parkes, fresh from a podium finish in the German round of the World Endurance Championship earlier this month, progressively improved, scoring 4-2-1 results.

Walters continued his fine 2013 form with a 3-4-3 scorecard, edging out defending champion Kevin Curtain (Yamaha Racing with Ipone) for the final podium slot.

Curtain won race one, but a seventh in the second denied him the overall podium. He bounced back for fourth in race three. Curtain’s YRT teammate Rick Olson rounded out the top five.

Experienced former Australian Superbike regular Dan Stauffer made his return to racing with sixth overall aboard an Alumalite Racing BMW.

The FX-600 class was won by Yamaha Racing with Yamalube’s Cru Halliday, who was second in race one before winning the final two outings.

Olson won race one by a narrow margin over Halliday, however contact between the pair on the final corner of the final lap in race two saw Olson go down and forced out of proceedings in a dramatic turn of events.

Queenslander Aiden Wagner (Yamaha) was second overall ahead of Callum Spriggs (Yamaha), while Mike Jones (Yamaha) returned from Europe to claim fourth.

Olson ended up fifth overall after climbing to fourth in the final race of the class for Saturday.

Other winners on Saturday included Curtain (Formula Oz), Grant Hay (Supersport), Rennie Scaysbrook (FX-450GP) Callum Barker (FX-125GP), Ben Leonard (250cc Mono), Stephen Craig (FX Ultra-Lites), Nathan Mahboub (Pro-Twins), Lachie Thomas (Nakedbikes) and Michael McMillan (Thunderbikes).
