Plucky Australian Moto3 rider Jack Miller will move from Honda to KTM in 2014, landing a prized ride with Red Bull KTM Ajo Motorsports in place of Moto2-bound Luis Salom.

The teenager from Townsville has constantly punched above his weight aboard his Caretta Technology Honda, and more often than not has been held back by the limitations of the bike in striving for his first podium.

Miller has fought on regardless, and his talent and relentless pursuit of the class frontrunners has attracted the attention of Moto3’s top teams.

Head of KTM Motorsports, Pit Beirer, confirmed the signing to German news outlet Speedweek at the British Grand Prix.

“We are have been observing Jack Miller very closely this season,” said Beirer. “He always sits behind our box on the stairs to our struck, so we’ve been in contact with him for some time.

“It is amazing for us as he has, again and again, challenged our factory riders with inferior material. This is what attracted us to bring him to KTM.”

He’ll join current rider Zulfhami Khairuddin at the team, with fellow Aussie Arthur Sissis not yet signed for next year.

The development is a huge boost for Miller, who has seven top 10 finishes to his name so far in 2013, along with seven top five qualifying performances.

2014 will mark his third full season in the Moto3 class, and his best chance yet for success.

He currently sits seventh on the class ladder, earning 65 points from his 11 starts thus far.
