Lachlan Kavney has been announced as the sole local wildcard entrant for the 2013 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island next month.

The Queensland-based rider received notification that his wildcard application had been accepted on his 22nd birthday, confirming his position on the ultra-competitive Moto3 grid.

Kavney, who currently sits second on combined the Australian Moto3/125cc GP points ladder, was elated to receive the news.

“I am so happy to be given such an opportunity and am honoured to represent Australia in front of an international audience,” said Kavney.

“There’s just over a month until the event and we will be trying to make my bike as competitive as possible in order to be able to qualify at such an elite level. Safe to say I’m pretty happy right now!”

Kavney will contest the 18-20 October event aboard his Bullet Racing Honda NSF 250. His inclusion bolsters the Aussie entries within the Moto3 class to three, alongside full-time riders Jack Miller (Caretta Technology RTG Honda) and Arthur Sissis (Red Bull KTM Ajo).
