Aussie Jason O’Halloran will make a second guest ride with the JiR Moto2 outfit at Misano with the team’s regular rider Mike di Meglio still sidelined from injuries sustained at Brno.

The 25-year-old is riding the momentum of a season-best second place finish in the British Supersport race at Donington Park and will be better prepared for only his second grand prix showing with a race under his belt.

O’Halloran put together a solid campaign for JiR at Silverstone, qualifying 24th and finishing in a safe 25th.

Further progress in the race was prevented as a technical problem surfaced aboard JiR Moto2 machine, affecting the Aussie’s straight-line speed and leaving his suit and boots coated in oil at the conclusion.

Despite this, he managed to set his fastest lap of the race on his penultimate tour of the circuit, an indication of his consistent march forwards.

“The positives are that we did go faster towards the end of the race and that it was an amazing experience,” O’Halloran said post-race.

Misano is the JiR squad’s home event, with both team and rider eager to put together a solid weekend.

Di Meglio’s injury recovery time is not yet known, leaving the door ajar for O’Halloran to compete in further GPs if the opportunity arises.
