Bryan Staring is hopeful of overturning a recent run of lacklustre results and showing his potential when the MotoGP World Championship continues at his Gresini Honda team’s home circuit of Misano.

The race holds great significance for the GO&FUN-backed outfit, with the team’s headquarters just kilometres from the venue. In addition, the circuit was recently renamed to Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in tribute to Gresini’s star rider who tragically lost his life in 2011.

It’s a circuit that Aussie Staring knows well, and he recognises the importance of a solid performance here as the championship enters its home run.

“The Grand Prix of San Marino is an important event for me,” he said. “I know the track well and with this being the team’s home race I really want to give everything I can to make sure we celebrate with a good result.

“I want to put our recent disappointments behind us with a performance that sets us up for the final stage of the season. With the help of the team I think I can achieve the objectives we have set ourselves for the weekend ahead.”

Tyre problems and minor injuries have affected Staring’s progress in past events, preventing him from mounting any real challenge for championship points.

His best result of his maiden MotoGP season came at the Catalan Grand Prix, where he placed 14th, collecting his only points of the season thus far.
