Supersport rider Hudson Pitt will campaign CM Racing’s only entry at the penultimate round of the Australian Superbike Championship at Hidden Valley this weekend.

Noticeably absent is front-running Superbike privateer, Chas Hern, who co-owns the outfit with Michael Demmery.

Demmery confirmed to CycleOnline that the cost of the exercise was the determining factor in Hern not competing.

“We couldn’t justify the cost,” he said. “His place in the championship isn’t the best, so we decided against it. It will allow us to have a strong showing at the final round [Phillip Island], and at MotoGP.”

The team’s presence in the Top End is further reduced with the absence of the 250 Production class, and the incorporated Women’s championship.

Demmery indicated the savings made would be put towards son Brandon’s bid for a spot in the 250 Production class races at the Malaysian MotoGP round in just under a month’s time.

“With Brandon racing in the Malaysian MotoGP, I have decided to direct funds towards that,” he added. “We are still a little short [of funds], but will make it somehow.

He also indicated the team would be exploring further options for its riders to race in Malaysia in 2014.

“We are looking at either a 250 or a 600 ride for him next year – same for Hudson, and Chas on a 1000,” said Demmery, citing a much cheaper cost of going racing.
