KTM’s factory Moto3 outfit has drafted newly-crowned 2013 Red Bull Rookies Cup champion Karel Hanika for the team’s 2014 campaign.

Hanika has run in the Red Bull Rookies ranks for two consecutive years, taking three wins and four podiums in 2012, and six wins and three podiums in 2013 to wrap up the title with two rounds to spare.

Team manager Aki Ajo welcomed the young Czech rider to the fold and felt that he could impress in his rookie season.

“We are very happy to bring Karel to Red Bull KTM Ajo,” he said. “He is a very talented young rider who has had great races in the Red Bull Rookies Cup both this season and last season.

“It is an honor for Red Bull KTM Ajo to have these young riders coming through, with their desire to work hard and learn after their time in that magnificent competition.

“I know that Karel is very motivated for next year, and that is the most important thing.”

Hanika will partner Australian Jack Miller at the team, with current rider and Aussie Arthur Sissis currently unconfirmed.

The Czech rider said he would devote every effort to the opportunity given to him with the 2008, 2010 and 2012-championship winning team.

“Moving up to the Moto3 World Championship with Red Bull KTM Ajo is a dream for me,” said Hanika. “In my opinion this is the best team in the series and a perfect opportunity for me. I have to make the most of this unique chance.”

Hanika follows the same path into the factory team of Sissis and Danny Kent.
