Australian Road & Track Rider Promotions (ARTRP) has announced that its national road racing series will be rebranded in 2014 as the Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC).

According to an announcement from ARTRP this afternoon, the revamped direction has been introduced in a bid to attract teams and competitors from throughout Australasia.

It’s also been announced that international ASC competitors will receive assistance from ARTRP, while the series’ Superbike and Supersport categories could potentially compete overseas as soon as 2015.

This year saw the series receive 34 hours of television coverage nationally, plus TV coverage through Asia and New Zealand, alongside its free live webcast. A similar package has been confirmed for next season.

ASC will expand to Mallala in South Australia next year, hosting round two of the six-round series.

The Superbike regulations will remain in place for 2014, while Supersport (currently FX-600) and Formula Oz won’t be eligible for factory participation as they become privateer-only categories.

A single-make Kawasaki Ninja 300 series has been revealed under the FX 300 Ninja Cup title. Regulations will “allow sensible, but affordable changes that will give the FX 300 Ninja Cup bikes the ability to be much quicker around the track and provide riders with a much sharper handling faster more fun to ride bike to hone their skills on”.
