Fan Guide: 2013 ASBK Rd7 Phillip Island

CycleOnline's complete guide to the ASBK's thrilling season finale.

The 2013 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) comes to a head at Phillip Island on Victoria’s spectacular southern coastline.

A full complement of feature and support classes will take on one of the world’s most highly-regarded circuits, renowned for its fast, flowing nature and constantly changing weather.

Team Suzuki’s Wayne Maxwell carries a significant 31-point lead into the finale, heading teammate Robbie Bugden, with Glenn Allerton a further three points in arrears.

A runner-up for a number of years, 2013 looks certain to be Maxwell’s year after he has borne the brunt of bad luck in seasons past.

Bugden is on form and will push him at the front, as will Allerton, who is eager to end a tough campaign on a high note.

Team Honda Racing carries winning momentum from Darwin, and both Jamie Stauffer and Josh Hook have proven they are capable of running at the front.

The class also incorporates a close battle for privateers spoils, currently led by Linden Magee, with Glenn Scott just a point behind.

The Supersport battle will also be intense. Caterpillar Yamaha EPS rider Daniel Falzon has a 20-point lead over fellow R6 rider Aaron Morris – a handy buffer but certainly not enough to make the title a foregone conclusion.

The class range also sees Prostock, Moto3/125GP, 250 Production and Sports Racers on the roster, making for a packed weekend.
