A full schedule of support categories were hosted at Phillip Island’s final round of the QBE Australian Superbike Championship over the weekend, including the crowning of a new champion in the 250 Production category.

In the 250 Production class, which had the biggest field for the weekend, saw some intense action across all three races. Taking out the round was Queenslander Luke Burgess (Power Supplements/Adrenalin Performance Bikes) with a 3-2-1 result with 63 points on the board.

Just a single point behind Burgess was young gun Brandon Demmery (CM Racing), who wrapped up the championship in the process.

Pole man Tim Boujos (CM Racing/JB Racing/Highway Yamaha) from Western Australia rounded out the podium in third in what was his first time racing in the category for the year. Tom Bramich (Ron Angel Classic/Tingate Racing/Atlas Webster Air Con) was fourth, with Sophie Lovett in fifth.

In the Women’s class Jessica Derrin (CM Racing/Italian Motorcycles/Victory Adelaide) was the victor from Lovett, with Tracey Davis (Motorcycle Movers/Abacus Affordable Plumbing) taking the last step on the podium. Di Jones and Miriam White were fourth and fifth.

With newly-crowned champion Matt Walters absent for the weekend, Sean Condon (Bikebiz/Ipone/Insurance Racing) won his first round of the Australian Prostock Championship with a 1-1-4 result, beating NextGen Motorsports BMW rider Ben Nicolson by two points.

The final race of the day was ran in wet conditions which meant the script was thrown out the window. Nicolson claimed his very first race win of season 2013 when he stormed to victory, beating Phil Lovett (Cessnock KTM/ Lovetts Earthmoving/Central Coast Harley Davidson Kawasaki) by 3.552 seconds. Lovett finished third overall for the round.

There is nothing like a bit of rain which throws a spanner into the works and that was proven by Phil Czaj (Czaj Racing/4SR-4 Street Racing Aust/CRC – Fairings Bodas), who stuck his Aprillia RSV4 in third to finish fourth overall for the weekend.

Meanwhile in the Moto3 it was Lawson Walters (KTM) who won with pole position and three race wins and showed why is number one for the year. Matt Barton (Honda) was second and Tom Bramich (Honda) third, racing for the first time on a Moto3 bike.
