Double Endurance World Champion Warwick Nowland will relaunch his fledgling road race operation in 2014, featuring official support from MV August and the Royal Australian Navy’s ‘Team Navy’.

The new-look team was announced last night in Sydney, taking place on the Royal Australian Navy warship HMAS Parramatta.

Team Navy currently has an involvement in V8 Supercar teams FPR and Dick Johnson Racing, as well as various other sports and activities.

Nowland has been in and out of Australian road racing since first establishing a privateer race team in 2011. Next year however will see the team step up to the Australian Superbike Championship under the guise of ‘WNR Force’.

“As you can imagine we are very happy,” team coordinator Nowland said. “But like most good things, this didn’t happen last week. We have persisted and always looked forward. We are motivated to help not only young racers, but also the industry, our sport and everyone involved.

“We have an exciting project that we can share with everyone and I am personally very grateful to my team and Lieutenant Commander Don Hogarth from the Royal Australian Navy. Team Navy’s involvement is that of endless opportunity and of course MV Agusta, what can I say!

“We have good momentum now, 2014 is looking like a new level of excitement.”

MV Agusta Imports director James Deutsher is equally excited to see the iconic Italian brand return to domestic road racing in 2014.

“MV Agusta Imports is extremely excited to be working with WNR Force to race in the Australian Superbike Championship in the 2014 season,” Deutsher said. “MV Agusta has a beautiful and passionate marriage to the world of racing, we are thrilled to be able to meaningfully contribute to the development of racing culture in Australia with this unique marque.

“This offers us an opportunity to use our product at the highest level, and implement the knowledge gained in racing to develop and improve the MV Agusta product specifically for the Australian consumer. With the enthusiasm, experience and dedication of Warwick Nowland and WNR Force, this is an exhilarating time for MV Agusta.”

WNR Force is yet to announce riders for the project.
