Broc Parkes’ Monster Energy Yamaha Austria Racing Team (YART) is considering a regular assault on the 2014 eni FIM Superbike World Championship, scheduled to make their WSBK debut in this weekend’s season finale at Jerez in Spain.

While the World Endurance Championship squad won’t convert full time to WSBK next season, the opportunity to contest regular rounds is a major attraction for team boss Mandy Kainz.

“We are seriously thinking about competing in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship,” Kainz confirmed. “But only at a few selected events – the whole thing is a matter of budget of course. A full season is not an option at the moment.”

New Australian FX-Superbike Champion Parkes will make his World Superbike return at Jerez this weekend aboard the YZF-R1, with Kainz hopeful a top 10 result is achievable on Sunday.

“We plan to enter Broc Parkes as wildcard in the [final] round at Jerez,” Kainz said. “Our expectations are not particularly high, we do not know the track in Jerez and have no experience with the Pirelli tyres.

“A place in the top ten would be great in these circumstances.”

Parkes and the YART team including countryman Josh Waters finished fifth in the 2014 WEC standings, their title tilt dented by a DNF at Le Mans’ season finale late last month.
