It’s game on between Team Suzuki’s Wayne Maxwell and Dynotech Maxima BMW’s Glenn Allerton in the support races at Phillip Island at the Tissot Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Maxwell fought back in this morning’s second race of the weekend as he led from start to finish in the eight race journey beating Allerton by 1.547 seconds.

Maxwell did make a few minor changes to the Suzuki GSX-R1000 by changing the front tyre and front forks but was still not 100 percent happy.

“I’m happy to hit back this morning with a win in race two,” said Maxwell. “We changed the front tyre and forks but I’m still not completely happy, so will go back to the drawing board.

“We have a long time to think before tomorrow, so hopefully we can improve that little bit more tomorrow and try and skip away from these boys. Thanks heaps to Team Suzuki and Dunlop tyre who supply a great tyre as always.”

In third place was Team Honda’s Josh Hook, who made a blazing start off the line before being overtaken by Allerton. It was a dogfight between Hook, Allerton and Hook’s team mate Jamie Stauffer.

Turn four must be the advantage point so far for this weekend to watch passing moves – on the last lap was where Allerton dived up the inside of the Honda pair. Then coming onto the main straight was a drag race between Allerton and Hook.

“It was good to get on the podium in that race,” said a delighted Hooky. “We have a few issues with the bike but were moving forward which is the main thing. Team Honda is working really hard this weekend. We have come a long way since the final round of the ASBK here a few weeks ago.

“It’s looking to be a good weekend but. Lap times are fast and were just going to have to keep chipping away and see what we can do. But were moving forward which is the main thing.”

Stauffer was fourth while Robbie Bugden (Team Volvo Group Suzuki) who finished third in race one was fifth.

A very happy Dustin Goldsmith (Goldys Trailers & Towbars) was the first Prostock rider home on his Kawasaki ZX-10R, beating yesterday’s winner Sean Condon (Bikebiz/IPONE/Swann Insurance).

The Supersport class was a carbon copy as race one with Aiden Wagner (Wagner Soil Testing/XXX Rated Suspension/YRD) taking the spoils again, beating his good mate Callum Spriggs (Allsite Concrete Cutting/XXX Rated Suspension/YRD) by 2.209 seconds.

Third went to Mike Jones (XXX Rated Suspension/RIAA/Allsite Concrete Cutting). Just like yesterday, Ryan Taylor (SW Racing/ YRD/ Pirelli/Mupo) crossed the line in fourth. Rounding out the top five was Michael Blair (YRD/Finson/Blairbuild).
