Australian Bryan Staring wants to finish his first full MotoGP World Championship season on a high note in the final two rounds of 2013 at Motegi and Valencia.

Following the bitter disappointment of being black flagged at Phillip Island last weekend after what was a promising weekend, the Team GO&FUN Honda Gresini rider plans to make further inroads towards the points-paying positions in Japan.

Staring confirmed at his home grand prix last weekend that he’s unlikely to source a seat in the MotoGP paddock for 2014, instead focusing on securing a Superbike World Championship seat in a bid to crack the big time in Europe.

With that in mind, Motegi and Valencia will be vital races for his future prospects on the world stage – a factor he’s all too well aware of.

“I am still angry about the mistake at my home race, which was ended by a black flag after I failed to pit on the correct lap,” Staring said. “It’s inexcusable and I am doubly determined to make up for it at Motegi this weekend.

“It is a tough track because of all the hard braking zones and it won’t be easy for us to adapt. Anyway, we only have two races left now until the end of the championship and I am determined to finish it in the best possible way.”

After clinching the Australian Superbike Championship in 2010, Staring spent two years in the WSBK-based Superstock 1000 FIM Cup category before landing the Gresini Honda seat in MotoGP this year.
