NextGen Motorsport crew chief Shane Kinderis has hailed the team’s decision to contest the Australian Superbike Championship with Pirelli, certain the defection from Dunlop was a positive step.

The three-rider NextGen outfit of dual ASBK champion Glenn Allerton, rookie Linden Magee and Prostock contender Ben Nicolson all competed aboard Pirelli tyres after the control tyre regulations were abolished for 2013.

Combined, the trio displayed front-running form throughout the season, albeit coming up short of an overall championship in the series.

“All in all I am very happy with the way 2013 turned out,” said Kinderis. “We took a leap of faith at the beginning of the year to take on Pirelli tyres and it turned out to be a great decision.

“The team worked hard all year to achieve the best from our tyres, machines and riders and we certainly achieved that. The BMW HP4 proved to be devastatingly fast and we look forward to going even faster next year.”

After a stunning start to the season with the round victory on debut in Tasmania, Allerton went on to finish runner-up in the standings aboard the BMW HP4. Superbike teammate Magee finished eighth overall and third of the Privateer runners.

Nicolson was second in the Prostock title chase riding an S 1000 RR, capping off a promising maiden campaign for the NextGen and Pirelli combination.

In total Allerton amassed three Superpoles, won four races and two rounds during the ASBK season.
