Milwaukee Yamaha’s Ian Hutchinson won the weekend’s 47th Macau Grand Prix, a stunning performance that saw him claim pole position and the race victory.

Hutchinson had edged out eight-time winner Michael Rutter to the pole position in qualifying and in the race the pair had been pushing for the lead over the opening laps before edging out an advantage before the race was stopped with two laps remaining.

Gary Johnson completed the podium for the Quattro Plant Motorsports with Honda TT Legends’ John McGuinness in fourth place.

Hutchinson last stood on the podium at Macau in 2011 when he finished third to Rutter and Martin Jessopp, but today’s performance marks his first victory at the annual event.
