The 2013 FIM Gala Ceremony has been held in the prestigious Salle des Etoiles room of the Sporting Monte-Carlo in front of more than 500 guests.

The who’s who of the motorcycling world were present to enjoy the special evening that rewards the exploits of the world’s best motorcycle riders.

World champions such as Marc Marquez, Pol Espargaro and WSBK champion Tom Sykes were all on hand to be rewarded for their accomplishments.

In addition to the normal FIM world champion awards, the FIM also made two special presentations for FIM Rookie of the year and FIM rider of the year.

Both of these were voted for by more than 15,000 people, including the media, fans, teams industry and riders.

Not surprisingly Marquez won the award for rider of the year while Patryk Dudek was voted rookie of the year.

FIM president Vito Ippolito was delighted with the event and location for the fourth installment of this prestigious awards night.

“It was great to be able to host the fourth edition of the FIM Gala Ceremony in Monte-Carlo and for a second year in a row,” said Ippolito.

“I want to thank the riders, teams and the whole motorcycling family for supporting this very important event when collectively once again we have shown to the World the great spirit that exists within motorcycling.”
