Australian Superbike Championship entry fees will be significantly reduced in 2014, International Entertainment Group (IEG) has announced.

The reductions come “in an effort to assist teams with budget constraints and encourage greater participation”, according to IEG.

IEG previously announced that a $100 entry fee would be introduced (click here for details), however additional charges include Motorcycling Australia levies, medical levies, timing fees and garaging.

Select levies have been increased over prices indicated during the 2013 season.

As confirmed last week, standalone events will be run over two days as of next year.

“I was once a privateer trying to compete, racing in a trying economy can be near impossible,” IEG managing director Yarrive Konsky explained.

“Running the championship over two days will help riders and their respective crews. We need to be mindful of their work commitments and racing expenditure.

“Two days means less time of work, less tyres and less logistical costs.”

With the championship not visiting Western Australia, South Australia and New Zealand in 2014, the entry fee and MA levi for participants in those states will be waved for standalone events.

All New Zealand entrants will also receive a $500 travel subsidy in addition to the free entry for all standalone rounds, IEG has promised.

V8 Supercars rounds will incur higher entry fees based on live TV and garage costs.

Standalone two-day event pricing structure:
Entry fee – $100
MA levi – $60
Medical levi – $65
Timing fee – $25
Garage – TBA (dependent on venue costs)
Total $250
