The provisional 2014 Australian Superbike Championship calendar has been released by Motorcycling Australia tonight.

Featuring six rounds – one of which is to be confirmed – half of the ASBK series will be contested alongside the V8 Supercars Championship Series.

The series is scheduled to open with a pair of standalone events at Queensland Raceway and Phillip Island, featuring the Superbike, Supersport, Moto3/125GP and 250/300cc Production categories.

However the listed date at Queensland has already been confirmed as a Champion’s Ride Days event on the Saturday, according to the Queensland-based company’s 2014 track day calendar.

Also, the proposed first Phillip Island date clashes with the previously-announced Shannons National Motor Racing Championship event at the same circuit – their calendar confirmed in November.

Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway will remain on the calendar, although this time alongside the V8 Supercars in a Superbike-only event for round three.

The Superbike and Supersport series will return to Queensland Raceway for round four, also a two-plus-four with the V8s, before the TBC round is listed as the penultimate round.

It’s anticipated that the October date will feature Sydney Motorsport Park after the series made a popular return to the venue in 2013.

The sixth and final event will also be alongside the V8 Supercars at Phillip Island in November, featuring both the Superbike and Supersport classes.

In total the Superbikes will span six rounds, Supersport five, and the supporting categories three rounds each if the October date is confirmed.

A prize money pool has also been promised per round, as follows: Superbike (factory riders not eligible) 1st $1000, 2nd $700, 3rd $500, 4th $400, 5th $250; Supersport 1st $750, 2nd $500, 3rd $400, 4th $300, 5th $200.

There is one date clash with the rival Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC), being the two-plus-four round four at Queensland Raceway and round four of the ASC at Winton – a date which was revised in that series’ updated calendar a fortnight ago.
