Jones confirms 2014 ASBK and ASC Superbike campaign

Teenager Mike Jones will step up to a Kawasaki ZX-10R Superbike in 2014, contesting both the Australian and Australasian Superbike Championships.

Jones, 19, will ride with support from Brisbane-based dealer Crazy Dogs Kawasaki in the ASBK and ASC, following a seasons in Europe racing Superstock.

“I’m very excited to be racing in the Superbike category on a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10,” Jones said. “I look forward to developing my skills as I plan to spend as much time in the seat as possible.

“Whilst this year will primarily be about learning, I’m confident that I’ll be on the pace towards the end of the year. I’m glad to announce my partnership with Crazy Dogs Kawasaki for 2014.

“I wish to thank the staff for assisting me with the move onto the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. Their support is greatly appreciated and I hope to bring them success throughout the year.”

Jones will also make regular appearances within his local club – the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland – series, Southern Downs Challenge.

Commencing Jones’ season will be the opening Phillip Island Championship round alongside the World Superbikes on 21-23 February.
