Team M1Motorsport’s Linden Magee finished third in the opening round of the New Zealand Superbike Championship at Ruapuna.

Despite racing with a broken collarbone and fractured wrist, sustained in round two of the Suzuki Series last month, Magee forged through the pain for a podium at the NZSBK opener.

After qualifying 13th, Magee finished ninth in race on on Saturday, before rounding out the weekend with third and fourth place finished on Sunday.

“I feel much better knowing I was able to put the demons from the Suzuki Series Manfeild crash behind me,” Magee said. “To be leaving round one third in the New Zealand Superbike Championship is well beyond my expectations and I’m really looking forward to Timaru next weekend.

“Big thanks to M1Motorsport NZ and all our supporters and sponsors in getting us back on track!”

Magee joined Kiwi chargers Dennis Charlett and Nick Cole on the overall podium, heading into round two this weekend at Timaru International Motor Raceway.
