Superpole revamped ahead of 2014 WSBK season

World Superbike to follow MotoGP qualifying procedures.

A new Tissot Superpole format will be introduced for the 2014 eni FIM Superbike World Championship, commencing at Phillip Island on 21-23 February.

A result of Dorna’s bid to align WSBK and MotoGP Sporting Regulations, qualifying will feature a format of two 15-minute sessions this season.

The top 20 riders classified after the three free practice sessions will take part in Superpole, with the top 10 directly seeded into Superpole 2.

The remaining 10 will do battle in Superpole 1, with the top two from that session elevated into the 12-rider Superpole 2 session that will determine the grid.

Both Superpole sessions will run for 15 minutes each, with a break of 10 minutes between the pair of sessions.
