MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez was the star attraction during last weekend’s Superprestigio Dirt Track event in Barcelona, going head-to-head with American champion Brad Baker.

Marquez battled hard with Baker over nine thrilling laps, before contact saw the talented Spaniard go down and allow Baker to streak away to victory over Tito Rabat and Kenny Noyes.

“I feel sorry for having that contact with Marquez in the Superfinal,” Baker commented. “It’s been a great hand to hand and I’d love to repeat this experience back home and invite Marc to the Half Mile next year.”

Marquez escaped injury in the clash, enjoying the off-season outing against one of the world’s top dirt track racers.

“I’m extremely happy with this show,” he said. “The fans had discovered dirt track in Spain and they have really enjoyed so, as we did! Nice fight with Baker – I’ve learned a lot of things and I hope to see this show back here next year.”

The junior class was won by Gerard Riu, with Australian rising star Remy Gardner returning to his roots in second and younger brother Luca fourth.
