International Entertainment Group (IEG) will announce a reduced Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) calendar following a series of crisis meetings in Melbourne since Friday.

IEG general manager Yarrive Konsky announced via Facebook late Monday evening that the updated schedule won’t clash with Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC) events, following a flood of competitors confirming their intentions to transfer series for 2014.

Previously, the Barbagallo ASBK round alongside the V8 Supercars (round two) clashed with the Mallala ASC event (round two), as did the ASBK Queensland Raceway 2+4 (round five) with Winton ASC (round four).

The news will potentially reduce the 2+4 schedule to one event in Darwin barring a return to Phillip Island’s V8SC schedule, however the only round to be confirmed at this stage in the updated calendar is Queensland Raceway’s standalone opening round on 5-6 April.

Konsky also revealed plans that IEG and MA will be providing Superbike and Supersport entries free of charge in 2014.

The revisions come following a turbulent few weeks for the ASBK, which has seen Team Suzuki on the brink of folding, Team Honda Racing ruling out an ASBK inclusion, plus professional privateer outfit Next Gen Motorsports and supersport champion Daniel Falzon departing the series in favour of the ASC along with a variety of former ASBK regulars.

An announcement is anticipated for Tuesday.
