YMF Loan returns as title sponsor in the rebranded championship.
Australian Road and Track Rider Promotions (ARTRP) has announced that it will host a YMF Loan-supported Australian FX-Superbike (AFX-SBK) Championship series on the Saturday of Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC) events in 2014.
Last season the AFX-SBK series was the premier title run by ARTRP on Sundays, with the FX-Nationals the undercard hosted on the Saturday of each event.
“In keeping with the tradition of having two series running at our three day events, the Saturday series that was previously named the FX-Nationals will now take on the higher profile mantle of the AFX-SBK championship series,” ARTRP managing director Terry O’Neill explained.
“Our intention has always been to raise the profile of the Saturday racing and what better way to do that then to have our longest running sponsor Yamaha and YMF Loan taking up the AFX-SBK naming rights.
“Nothing has changed from what was previously announced, both series will be run over the previously announced six round calendar. There will be Friday practise and qualifying for the Saturday AFX-SBK racing and the quickest lap times a rider puts down in Saturday’s racing will be their qualifying times for the Sunday’s ASC racing.
“Again, both Saturday and Sunday’s series will be mirror image events with all classes getting three races each day, which will point score for their own series and respective championships.”
Yamaha will award bike prizes to be announced for privateers in the ASX-SBK Superbike (outright and C/D-grade) and Supersport categories, as well as a newly-introduced Formula Xtreme Challenge feature race during Sunday’s proceedings.
The FX Challenge will be open to A- and B-grade riders, plus invited C-graders, from the Superbike, Formula Oz, Pro-Twins and Nakedbike F1 categories.
