Defending Australian Supersport Champion Daniel Falzon will pull double duty in 2014, this morning confirming he will defend his ASBK Supersport crown alongside his entry in the Australasian Supersport Championship.

Falzon’s Jon Daniels Racing team was one of the major contenders to recently announce they would be focusing on ASC (click here for details).

However Motorcycling Australia and International Entertainment Group yesterday confirmed that a major calendar revision has removed two date clashes between the rival series (click here for details).

“In light of the recent restructure of the upcoming ASBK season and subsequent elimination of round clashes, the Jon Daniels Racing Team have made the decision to contest both the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) and Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC),” a statement said.

“Team rider Daniel Falzon will remain aboard the Caterpillar EPSA Yamaha R6 with the aim to defend his Australian Supersport title in the ASBK championship and welcomes the challenges posed with new riders to face in the ASC.

“JD Racing commends IEG and MA for the recent restructure of the ASBK season which allows riders to contest both series rather than be made to select one. JD Racing also wishes to commend Yamaha on their exceptional prize package recently announced for the ASC series.

“In addition, JD Racing will contest the two-round Phillip Island Championship taking place at this years WSBK and MotoGP events.”

The Phillip Island Championship will commence next weekend during the opening round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship.
